- Abstract
- My previous BFRL seminar describing our experiments in STS-75 was given three years ago and the results obtained since then will be presented. The study is focused on the effects of multidimensional configuration (2D vs 3D) on the transition from localized ignition to subsequent flame spread. Numerically calculated results describing the difference between the two configurations will be discussed including the effects of sample width on flame spread. The video of our recent experiments conducted in the ten second drop tower will be shown. If there is enough time, the analysis of smoldering experiments conducted in the Shuttle flight will be presented.
