- Abstract
- This study focuses on how a computerized version of the Fire Safety Evaluation System developed by the center for Fire Research at the National Bureau of Standards can be used to determine equivalence to the life Safety Code in the least costly manner. This study presents a programmer-oriented discussion of the mathematical, economic and engineering considerations that went into the development of the linear programming algorithm for identifying cost-effective retrofits. Programmer-oriented topics treated in this report include: a discussion of user options; program documentation; format statements; flow charts; sample computer runs; and a complete listing of the compute program.
