Abstract
By fires in gas installation, especially in home installations in cellars, risks occur with which gas suppliers as sellers and the customers have to think more about it than they do at the moment. Danger of explosion by sudden gas eruptions are often caused by the so called "solder" when gas meters are heated up. With the help of simple model examinations which are supported by experimental research it is shown that only in small rooms a small leak rate of gas can cause an exceeding of the lower explosion limit in a short period of time. Dangers are often caused by a variety of risks. Not only by better fire protection equipment of gas installations, but also by systematic elimination of fire risks in the surrounding area of gas installations, connected with a regular inspection, the safety of gas supplies in households can be improved.
