- Abstract
- A theoretical and experimental study designed to improve understanding of buoyant fires is described. The main objective is to study turbulent fires along surfaces, however, several noncombusting and combustion flow configurations, which offer opportunities to highlight aspects of this problem under simpler circumstances, were considered during the work, e.g., buoyant noncombusting wall plumes, for studies of flow properties; and turbulent round flames, for studies of flame radiation properties. Various phases of the study are reported separately; this report considers results for noncombusting wall plumes.
