- Abstract
- The Battelle Institute has developed the model CFIRE-X for investigation of room fires, which has recently been enlarged with the option "Extinguishing". Now the computer model is able to simulate extinguishing procedures, e.g., by sprinklers and to measure their efficiency. In this work measured values during extinguishing fires of various hydrocarbons were compared with values calculated by CFIRE-X. The comparison shows satisfying accurancy of the model concerning the course of fire and the effect of extinguishing procedures in practical use.
