- Abstract
- December 14-16, 1994 - three days that may profoundly impact the future direction and vitality of the U.S. construction industry. Sixty construction industry leaders used this time to consider a bold proposal advanced by the Construction and Building (C&B) subcommittee of the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC): develop and execute a program of national construction goals. The C&B proposal envisions seven goals, to be attained over a notional ten year time frame (although some goals may require less or more time than the ten years envisioned). This industry workshop was held at the request of, and funded by, the C&B subcommittee; members of the C&B subcommittee attended the workshop in a liaison capacity. The workshop was structured to accommodate the diversity that characterizes the construction industry.
