- Abstract
- In all technical, educational, and social activities there generally are alternative approaches and paths to achieving a selected objective. In the building construction field, allowances for alternative approaches to achieve a given level of health and safety are gradually superseding the traditional prescriptive nature of building codes and standards. The common objectives in building fire safety are protection of occupants, protection of contents, protection of the building, and preservation and continuation of the basic mission or activity.
