- Abstract
- Products can be certified for P-marking by the Swedish National Testing and Research Institute (SP). Issue of the approval certificate is subject to establishment that the product meets the requirements of relevant standards, regulations etc., and that the manufactuerer, importer or distributor operates an approved inspection and quality control procedure. This document sets out the certification rules of fire-resistant filing cabinets and computer media cabinets. The rules include details of the technical requirements in respect of fire resistance, together with requirements relating to ongoing inspection. The technical requirements are based on the Nordtest NT FIRE 017 standard, which restricts the maximum temperature rise inside the cabinet to 150 deg C for filing cabinets and 50 deg C for data cabinets when exposed to external fire. The cabinets shall be divided into six fire resistance classes (60P, 90P, 120P, 60D and 120D), where D is associated with the 50 deg C temperature rise limit and P with the 150 deg C temperature rise limits. The numerals indicate the number of minutes for which the cabinet can withstand the effect of the fire test without the temperature limit being exceeded. Continuous inspection involves primarily inspection by the manufacturer or importer, together with surveillance inspection. The manufacturer's or importer's inspection relates mainly to dinished products, while surveillance inspection is carried out by SP through visits to the manufacturer or importer. During these visits, SP will be concerned to see that the manufacturer's or importer's own inspection procedures are operating as intended. In addition, samples of the finished products will be taken for testing.
