Abstract
The evaluation of toxicity of combustion gas must take into account several factors comprehensively. These factors include the heat that the material will face in actual fires, the residual products from the combustion of the material, and the effects on humans when inhaled. This research enables an accurate description of each phase of the fire. It also enables toxicity evaluation by highly precise instrumental analysis and animal tests, using actual combustion gas samples. Using combustion test equipment with thermoplastic material, the combustion due to heat radiation and the combustion products were tested with several fiber materials (cotton, polyester, wool, etc.). The toxic factor for combustible fiber material and the correlation between toxicity index and gas concentration were determined by animal tests.
