- ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH During operations of the rescue service at industrial fires, personnel wearing Breathing Apparatus (BS) perform an essential service. This project is part of the contribution of BRANDFORSK concerning the operations of the Rescue Service at industrial fires. The project is designed on the basis of e.g. experiences gained during a specially arranged exercise in Uddevalla which showed that there is reason to make an in-depth study of the problems of personnel wearing BA by analysing the actual operation and its conditions. Work concentrated on the sequence of events at the site of fire from arrival until the commencement of fire fighting. All factors relating to preparations, equipment, information, safety, resources, times etc affect to a high degree the results of the operation itself. In order to evaluate this, exercises by personnel wearing BA were carried out by some rescue services in Sweden. Since the organisation of the rescue services varies depending on the size of the municipality concerned, the rescue services in five munici-palities, Bollnas, Sundsvall, Uppsala, Goteborg and Stockholm, were selected. In Bollnas and Sundsvall, both full time and part time services participated. In orther municipalities only full time services were involved.
