- Abstract
- A brief review is presented of some of the philosophy involved in establishment of flame spread requirements and test procedures. It is shown that the acceptable upper limit of flame spread of finish materials, as evidenced by code and test procedures, differs considerably in Britain and United States. It is suggested that a reduction in the improtance of the fire load in burn-out tests would probably modify the correlation of acceptable flame spread and flashover time.
