Abstract
The attached tabulations, which are largely self-explanatory, give a summary of the results of our fire tests of prepared roof-covering materials. In the brand tests, by "percentage effective" is meant brands causing a sustained fire under the roof sheathing. The results here reported are all with wood brands that were ignited in a gas furnace for a length of time that would asure their complete combustion on the deck. A photograph showing the brands is attached. The scale can be obtained approximately from the 2,000-gram brand, the sticks for which are 3/4 by 3/4 by 12 in. long.
