Abstract
This report on the National Bureau of Standards was prepared at the request of the Subcommittee on Science, Research, and Development of the House Committee on Science and Astronautics to provide background information for the Committee's forthcoming review hearings on the Bureau. Although it has considered numerous bills relating to the Bureau in recent years, and has received testimony from Bureau officials on many occasions when broad questions concerning other matters within its jurisdiction were under consideration, the Committee has not reviewd the opeations of the Bureau as a whole since 1961 and even those hearings emphasized the space aspects of Bureau activity.
