- Abstract
- This investigation is directed toward the development of analytical techniques for predicting the behavior of fire and smoke spread in corridors. The availability of such techniques would be of tremendous advantage in terms of describing the behavior of fire spread based on the fuel loading in and adjacent to the corridor. They would also provide important guidance on standards for interconnecting doors, detection systems as well as types of materials suitable for corridors. In many instances, the availability of a meaningful analysis would reduce the necessity of full scale tests. One common problem in all full-scale testing is the acquisition of enough data to properly interpret the behavior of the test. With a strong coupling between experiment and theory, this problem at least in part, can be solved.
