Abstract
The Fire Safe Cigarette Act of 1990 directed the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (Commission) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to carry out research designed to provide an assessment of the practicability of developing a performance standard to reduce cigarette ignition propensity, that is, the likelihood that a cigarette will act as an ignition source for mattresses, upholstered furniture, and similar items. This report describes the results of that research. [*] This is one of six volumes in the Final Report, Fire Safe Cigarette Act of 1990. VOLUME 2.
