- Abstract
- This seminar presents material presented to first responders intended to reduce accidents when emergency vehicles cross rail lines. The presenters are also experienced in emergency response to rail incidents involving both passenger and freight operations, including hazardous materials response. The primary speaker is Michael D. Sternfeld, a Conductor with Amtrak on the Washington, DC to New York and Harrisburg, PA to Philadelphia, PA routes. He is also an Army Reserve Officer and in that capacity attended the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Accident Investigation and Derailment Analysis Course. Mike is a Certified Operation Life Saver Presenter and serves as the Emergency Management Agency and Military Liaison Coordinator for Maryland Operation Life Saver (MDOL). Also scheduled to present is Jim Cummings, a certified railroad engineer.
