Abstract
This report deals with the course of events and discuses the reasons for the discharge of methyl isocyanate in the city of Bhopal, India. On the basis of known data, dispersion model calulations have been made. A review of the chemistry and toxicology of isocyanates is presented. A survey over isocyanates presently in use in large amounts in Sweden and a suggestion for decontamination of isocyanates are made. The dispersion models and the actual accident in Bhopal are compared.
