Abstract
CII commissioned the Barriers to Implementation Research Team because of a perceived lack of application of the recommendations from CII research and generally slow progress in construction industry improvements. The research team was to identify and study the impact of barriers to implementation of CII principles and products, determine reasons for their existence, develop an array of alternative ways to avoid or overcome barriers in a variety of circumstances and organizational settings, and to determine the cost effectiveness of alternative solutions. This publication summarizes the team's efforts. It provides interesting findings and conclusions as to what knowledge and application of CII concepts really exist at the project level, and what can be done about it.
