- Abstract
- The subject of this Report is an assembly consisting of three-beam and deck subassemblies. Each subassembly consisted of a W8 x 24 beam, 24 in. wide cellular steel deck sections and 2-3/9 in. thick normal weight concrete topping. Sprayed material was applied directly to the surfaces of the beams and deck sections in each subassembly to thicknesses. The object of the investigation was to determine the fire resistance of each beam protected with the materials and in the manner herein described, by means of a fire endurance, test, conducted in accordance with the Standard, Fire Tests of Building Construction and Materials, UL263 (ASTM E119, NFPA No. 251). The submittor also requrested that an engineering evaluation of the test results contained in this report and report R6183-3 dated September 24, 1970 be made in order to determine optimum material thicknesses required on the beams for the desired rating.
