- Abstract
- The Perkin Elmer Automatic Thermal Desorption System ATD-400 was studied as a means of automating the analyses of arson accelerants in fire debris. With tenax TA as adsorbent, detection limits were determined for the most frequently used arson accelerants. The effects of overloading the system was also studies. Using a "sniffer" we determined the optimum conditions for analyses of fire debris. With the ATD-400 system up to 25 samples a day could be handled and thus a more efficient laboratory routine for arson analysis was obtained.
