Abstract
The design of prefabricated plywood houses by the Forest Products Laboratory has been based upon "stress-covered" floor and wall units. These consist of plywood faces glued to both sides of separating members, equivalent to joists or studs. The desirability of installing an insulating material between the plywood faces to retard the transmission of heat and sound has been recognized, and the relative fire hazard of the hollow and the insulated units has also been a matter for serious consideration.
