Abstract
Model studies of mass fires to isolate those parameters which are most influential in determining their size, spread, and burning rate have received increasing attention in recent years. Such studies are expected not only to lead to a more thorough understanding of the mass-fire problem, but to permit the development of modeling techniques applicable to predictive modeling of actual situations.
