- Abstract
- To determine fire hazards when overturning an M48 tank. The vehicle was tilted 90 deg on its sides and ends with the engine not running in order to investigate sources of oil and gasoline leakage. Tilting the vehicle in the same manner with the engine running resulted in cessation of engine operation accompanied by minor exhaust port fires. the latter occurred in seven of the eight individual tilting operations performed.
