- Abstract
- "Torch" is an originalnovel in twenty-three chapters. The novel is narrated by the title character, a twenty-two-year-old serial arsonist in her last year of college in Boston. Torch's unconfessed attraction to her friend Drew leads her to set buildings on fire whenever she sees him with other women. Torch must keep her secret from Drew as wellas their friends Nina and Morgan, which becomes increasingly difficult as her jealousy gros stronger and the fires more frequent. The novel tells Torch's story while touching on the themes of friendship, family, isolation, psychology, secrets, lies, identiy, intelligence, obsession, honesty, and the erotic power of fire.
