Abstract
A coordinated research program on precast seismic structural systems is described. The program, which is being carried out in conjunction with a parallel Japanese effort under the auspices of the United States/Japanese Natural Resources (UJNR) progrm has been active for three years and is expected to continue for a further three years. Aims of the program are to develop new structural systems for precast structures in seismic regions, and to produce the necessary design guidelines based on extensive experimental and analytical research to enable such structures to be accepted by regulatory authorities.
