- Abstract
- During this period, the theory of diffusion-flame extinction in the presence of radiant heat loss from the gas was pursued actively. The asymptotic methods for large activation energy and for strong dependence of radiant loss rate on temperature were fully developed. Complete solutions were obtained for the case in which the reaction rate depends more strongly on temperature than does the rate of radiant loss. Procedures for using previous results for calculating extinction in the presence of radiant loss were substantiated, with explicit modifications stated because of radiation.
