- Abstract
- The Cold Regions Test Center (CRTC), Fort Greely, Alaska, conducted a technical test of five candidate fire detection systems and one common extinguishing system for use in the Small Unit Support Vehicle (SUSV). CRTC tested the systems from 28 May through 25 July 1991. Performance testing consisted of a 2,000-mile endurance run, thermal wire heat detection, self-test fault checking, engine tunnel fire testing, fiberglas burn testing, and fire extinguisher testing. Safety and human factors engineering were also evaluated.
