Abstract
With Dave's (David Gottfried, President of U.S. Green Building Council) profound challenge and insight on this conference and the introduction, I ought to say thank you and sit down. I would be better off at that point, but I want to thank the Council for co-sponsoring this meeting with us, and I also wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the work of Hunter Fanney and Jim Hill, who have leadership roles in green building technology programs here at NIST, for their efforts in organizing the Conference. Green buildings are not new to NIST or as it was known before 1988 as NBS. As you know, the term "Green Buildings" means buildings which are designed, constructed, operated, and eventually demolished to have minimum impacton our global and internal environment. NIST has had a long interest in this field.
