- Abstract
- Work accomplished during this period concerns experimental studies of diffusion-flame extinction. Successful methods for including radiant loss from surfaces of burning fuels in analysis of extinction data were developed. These methods were applied to polystyrene and to polyethylene, and they were also considered for polymethyl methacrylate and for polyoxymethylene, but were found to be unimportant for the latter two materials. Final data on overall rate parameters for all four of these polymers were calculated on the basis of the improved techniques.
