- Abstract
- A remote heat-activiated stench gas-tracer gas mine alarm system was developed to reduce the time between fire detection and personnel notification. The stench gas-tracer gas system contains ethyl mercatan for personnel warning and a fluorocarbon for tracer gas detection of instrumentation. A system was also developed that can be interfaced with multiplex mine phones. In-mine tests were conducted and serveral systems are presently installed in a hard rock mine.
