- Abstract
- An analysis and methodology are presented for rating the performance of mixed, single-speed, split, residential heat pumps operating in the heating mode. The method allows for calculation of the capacity at the DOE 8.3 deg C (47 deg F) rating point and the heating seasonal performance factor for the minimum design heating requirement in Region 4 without performing laboratory testing of a complete system. The analysis included evaluation of the impact of the indoor coil, expansion device, and fan on system performance. Verification and applicability limits of the procedure are also discussed.
