- Abstract
- ONLY ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH Man or machine-detection and suppression of fires in rubbish bunkers: there are no detailed statutory provisions for rubbish incinerators, and they only exist to a very small extent in the generally acknowledged rules of technology. Because of their use and construction, the general fire prevention regulations in the legal provisions are without question also difficult to apply. Only section 3 of 17 BlmSchV reads: "For early detection . . . these have to be monitored in a suitable way..." Until now any fire protection concept for incinerating installations has had to be developed from other rules and regulations, which had not been specifically designed for incinerating facilities. The following article will describe the development of a fire protection concept and in particular, define the requirements for fire protection installations (fire detection, fire fighting) in the bunker area. The development of infrared (IR) technology will be shown and differences in the risk situation and the resulting fire protection for the different bunker types will be explained. It is decisive which concept from the different fire protection installations effects rapid quenching of the fire so that damage and smoke emission is reduced. Fire detection installations alone do not bring about fire suppression and do not prevent any smoke emission but form part of a whole system which is based on crane drivers as fire detectors alongside effective fire fighting equipment. When considering whether to install an IR video system in the bunker and which form it should take (stationary or mobile, automatic evaluation or visual monitoring equipment), the different ways of functioning and their effects on the final result, both in respect of fire detection and fire suppression, have to be borne in mind.
