- Abstract
- Combustion toxicology is still a young and growing science. Enough fundamental knowledge has been accumulated so far, however, that it has become possible to lay the groundwork for an engineering approach to its use in materials evaluation. The n-gas model, as presented, is now being developed for use. A number of data gathering steps and instrumental improvements still have to be achieved to enable its routine use. The needed principles, however, are being validated successfully, and it is expected that widespread use could come in as few as three years.
