- Abstract
- The Bureau of Community Environmental Management has been interested in the problem of carbon monoxide poisoning (CO) for some time. After the Carbon Monoxide program Action Kit was developed by the Bureau, local communities also realized that there was a carbon monoxide problem and many of them decided to do limited studies of their areas to determine whether further study and preventive programs were warranted. The Bureau of Community environmental Management contributed technical advice, program tools, and supplies, and it also agreed to serve as an informal "clearinghouse" so that the communities could share their data and experiences. Some areas did not do a study but did provide the Bureau with case histories. These are included in this report as well. This report on the "carbon monoxide determination feasibility study" concerns the statistical aspects of the "study". Technical aspects - such as the use of a carbon monoxide screening device, the reaction of groups, and procedural matters - are not included. The carbon monoxide screening device turns various shades of grey to black - depending on the concentration of carbon monoxide present.
