- Abstract
- This volume fulfills a basic requirement of the engineer for quantitative and qualitative human data upon which to develop design criteria. The Bioastronautics Data Book presents in graphic form a concise summary of the state of the art in applied physiology and space medicine. Hopefully, it will provide guidelines from which the engineer can develop rules and, ultimately, from which the Project Officer can develop specifications. Published first as a pilot study in 1962 under the title NASA Life Sciences Data Book, the present volume is a revised, expanded, and updated edition resulting from critical reviews by the scientific and industrial community. Eighteen contributors, each a specialist, have written authoritatively upon the varied aspects of space medicine and applied physiology.
