- When a fire is raging in a given room its spreading to adjacent rooms that have no direct communication with it will be prevented by the partitioning constructions between the rooms. They will be able to keep the fire from the adjacent rooms for some time. This capacity is described in chapter D of the Dutch Standard NEN 1076 as "fire resistance" and also a test method for determination of the fire resistance is given.
