- Abstract
- A full scale fire test program was conducted to establish the relative fire fighting effectiveness of a new sea water-compatible Light Water and to determine its role in shipboard fire protection. MB-5 aircraft fire rescue vehicles were used to compare the FC-195 Light Water formulation with the presently used FC-194. Comparison tests were conducted on fire areas of 3525 square feet (67 ft. diameter) and 10,577 square feet (116 ft. diameter) using AvGas JP-4, and JP-5 fuel. A series of tests were run to establish the capability of Light Water fire hose application and compare same with protein foam in standard FFF nozzles. A test with the second generation twin-agent unit established the limitation of that unit.
