- Abstract
- The objective of the project was to redesign the FP-180 to proportion AFFF, to improve reliability and to extend the usable life of the pump. Specific tasks were: (1) redesign the gear ratio from 1 to 1 to a higher rtio to provide AFFF concentration of 5% to 15% over the range of 60 gpm to 180 gpm; (2) limit the pressure drop across the water motor to 23 psi at 60 gpm and 33 psi at 180 gpm with a 150 psi inlet pressure; (3) develop new shaft seals and new bearings that will effectively reduce leakage and freezing problems.
