- The records available show clearly that except under the most extraordinary conditions, it is possible to control fire automatically with a minimum loss of life and property. The evidence suggests that probably there can be no better way of safeguarding life and property in the majority of buildings than by equipping them with automatic sprinkler systems. The emphasis on automatic control of fire seems to be a reasonable one in view of the rapid development of automation in so many ways.
