- Abstract
- The tests described are part of a qualification program for the development of a fire retardant shipboard utility uniform by the Naval Clothing and Textile Research Facility at the Naval Air Development Center's Fuel Fire Test Facility. The candidate materials were fire retardant treated (FRT) Cotton and Nomex one-piece and two-piece uniform designs. Described here are the fuel fire envelopment tests. The results showed that protection in the two-second tests were significantly higher for the heavier FRT Cotton two-piece uniforms evaluated than for the Nomex-Kevlar Coverall.
