Abstract
This proposal is for the design, development and evaluation of a fire retardant foam system for use in refrigeration, cold storage compartments and other types of voids aboard ship. The basic material, phenolic foam, has been researched at NAD Crane and has a low thermal conductivity as well as excellent fire retardant properties, little smoke emission and low toxicity when exposed to a fire.
