- Abstract
- Today the fire resistance of partition walls is judged on basis of a full scale fire test. In this report a simple method for calculating the fire resistance of partition walls is described, it is called: "Modified Addition-Method". Input to the calculation model has been created of results from a computer program, WOOD1. The input parameters are called: "Basic Values" and "Coefficientfor Position". The calculation scheme gives for each layer a weighted value for the fire resistance based on the surface weight. This value is adjusted in correlation to the position of the layers in the wall. The model has been compared with results from 12 different fire tests. The comparison showed that the method is able to predict the ire resistance of a partition wall. The aim of this report is only to show that the "Modified Addition-Method" works. The model is ment to use as an effective tool for predicting the fire resistance of a partition wall. The fire resistance for each layer is calculated to make it possible for static design of load carrying partition walls.
