- Abstract
- This project resulted in the design, construction, and evaluation of a modified small-scale cone calorimeter test apparatus for measuring critical fire performance characteristics of candidate advanced composite materials. Results from the small-scale tests are input to a fire hazard assessment methodology to predict the impact of a material on a typical flightline fire incident. This capability can be used (1) to screen candidate composite materials for military aircraft applications, and (2) to provide information regarding firefighting tactics and personnel hazards associated with flightline fires involving these materials.
