Abstract
For a few compound on which data are available, there is a parallel between the ability of the compound to capture and more-or-less permanently remove electrons from a flame and its efficiency as an extinguishing agent. Because a gaseous discharge plasma is a much simpler system than a flame, a preliminary study was made of the ability of fire extinguishing agents to extinguish a low pressure discharge in argon.
