- Abstract
- The investigation was undertaken to demonstrate the application of a mechanical-chemical equation of state to the solution of the problem of predicting long-term performance of plastic pipe. The equation of state is described and its application to Sclairpipe is made. The latter is extruded from a copolymer of ethylene and butene. Pitfalls in the use of experimental data are described and a method shown by which data can be examined for validity. Comparisons are drawn between this method and presently used ASTM and European methods.
