- Abstract
- For Report No. 2 we have followed a procedure similar to that used in compiling Report No. 1. We again selected four prominent companies noted for their successful underwriting experience, and asked the cooperation of their chief underwriting executives in selecting a typical commercial or industrial block and recording their risk-by-risk analyses. To provide diversification, we chose different companies from those responsible for Report No. 1. Furthermore, Report No. 2 is prepared by underwriters in the East and Midwest as opposed tothe analyses made by underwriters of the Far West in the first report. As to type of blocks analyzed, we believe you will note some still further diversification. Our aim is to cover a wide variety of commercial and industrial type risks. It might be noted that the second of the four analyses in this report is based on actual experience, while the other three follow the same pattern as in Report No. 1 - i.e., the hypothetical situation of what would happen should some or most risks in a particular block be offered to the same company.
