- Abstract
- Monsanto's proprietary X-400 and X-410 flameproofing technology was extended in terms of severity of treatment and reagents employed to prepare a textile-quality fabric (X-420) which was not ignited on the bottom of an exposed fabric fold by a burning tissue paper in pure O2 at 6.2 psia. Subsequently treated X-420 fabrics containing Phos-Chek P/30, a partially water-soluble flame retardant surface additive, were self-extinguishing in pure O2 at 6.2 psia and in a 60/40-O2/N2 atmosphere at 16.5 psia after bottom folded edge ignition by a burning silicone rubber road.
