- From earliest times fire has been at the centre of human preoccupations. Progressive urbanization and the concept of civil responsibility have given it added importance and led to the adoption of conservative regulations in the building sector. Thus, the use of materials in construction is no longer a purely technical issue, but a matter of consensus between the various partners in the industry, who are concerned to reduce the consequences and cost of fire hazards and to pinpoint the responsibilities they have entered into.
