- This paper is addressed particularly to owners and operators of district heating schemes, to architects and consultants, and to users concerned with the reliability of communal heating supply systems. It provides objective data on the reliability and costs in use of heat distribution networks in district heating schemes throughout the country, based primarily on the experience and records of owners and operators. The performance and maintenance costs of the great majority of schemes compared well with those to be expected of engineering services generally. A few schemes, however, incurred much larger annual repair costs.
