- Abstract
- In 2002-2005, an estimated 250 non-confined reported home structure fires involving hot tubs, whirlpools or spas caused annual average losses of 5 civilian injuries and $16 million in direct property damage. These estimates are based on data from the U.S. Fire Administration's (USFA's) National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) and the National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA's) annual fire department experience survey.
